With its thriving bars and restaurants and stunning tenements, the south side has long been touted as the ‘new west end’ - and now it’s official.
The Sunday Times’ annual list of the best places to live in the UK has been unveiled - and there’s one Glasgow neighbourhood in the top 10 for Scotland.
Sliding in at number seven is Strathbungo; bordered by leafy Queens Park and bustling Shawlands - and apparently on a par with the best places to live in Scotland, from Melrose to Aberdour, Aboyne to Morningside.
The Times lists the best address in the neighbourhood as Moray Place, and points to a community feel in the area, from mini festivals organised by the Strathbungo Society to gastrobars and coffee shops.
Marchtown, the neighbourhood’s relatively new wine bar/shop and events space, even gets a special mention.
According to the list, a starter home in Strathbungo will cost you £105,080, with a mid-market coming in at £183,940 and family home costing £301,450.
